Recipe: Homemade Whipped Cream
Making your own whipped cream at home is incredibly simple and much tastier than store-bought versions. It’s perfect for topping pies, cakes, or any dessert, and it’s versatile enough to use in hot drinks like coffee or hot chocolate. With only a few ingredients, you’ll have freshly whipped cream in no time!
Ingredients (Makes about 2 cups):
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions:
- Chill Your Equipment:
- For the best results, chill your mixing bowl and whisk (or electric mixer beaters) in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes before you start.
- Whip the Cream:
- Pour the heavy whipping cream into the chilled bowl.
- Using a hand whisk or an electric mixer, beat the cream on medium speed until soft peaks begin to form (about 2-3 minutes).
- Sweeten the Cream:
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract (if using) to the whipped cream.
- Continue beating until stiff peaks form, meaning the whipped cream will hold its shape when you lift the whisk out of the bowl (around 2 more minutes).
- Serve or Store:
- Use the whipped cream immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
Tips:
- If you like a sweeter whipped cream, feel free to adjust the powdered sugar to your taste.
- For a more decadent flavor, try adding a small amount of cocoa powder or flavored extracts like almond or peppermint.
