Ingredients
For the custard:
2 cups (500 ml) whole milk
1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
4 large eggs
½ cup (100 g) sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the crumble topping:
1 cup crushed biscuits (like digestive or graham crackers)
3 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the custard
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
In a saucepan, gently heat milk + cream until warm (not boiling).
In a bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
Slowly pour warm milk into the egg mixture while whisking (to avoid scrambling).
2. Assemble
Pour the custard into a greased baking dish.
Mix crushed biscuits, melted butter, and brown sugar.
Sprinkle evenly over the top.
3. Bake
Place dish in a larger pan and add hot water halfway up the sides (water bath).
Bake for 40–50 minutes, until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
4. Cool & serve
Let cool slightly (or chill for a firmer texture).
Scoop and enjoy warm or cold!
